Number of notifications has disappeared on Twitter

I spotted last night that the number of notifications on the bell icon on iOS apps has disappeared on Twitter...there's now just a blue dot. Numbers still remain on desktop and Android though.

I'm not sure if this is intentional, but it's a step backwards.

 

New grey tick 'official' Twitter verification lasted less than 24 hours

Following on from yesterday's announcement flagged up here of a new official label and verification this has now been 'killed' by Elon Musk.

Comment: A terrible feature that should never have been launched but at least it's gone now.

 

Twitter Blue subscriptions arrive in UK...sort of

I've now got a panel to apply for Twitter Blue on iOS, but there's no Subscribe button 🤦‍♂️

It's also on desktop where there's a note that says you can only subscribe on iOS!

ALL features are also coming soon so your subscription just gets you blue verification!

Comment: It's been a rushed and haphazard rollout.

 

New design for Instagram on desktop

A new desktop design for Instagram will be rolling out to all users soon. You might already have it.

The refreshed design is “cleaner, faster and easier to use,” with an optimised UI for larger screens.

There's a new home for the main navigation bar, which was formerly at the top of the screen but has been moved to a side panel. The Notifications and Search tabs pop-up as a small menu when tapped, while the Explore tab displays posts across the entire screen.

Comment: It's a welcome improvement.
