Number of the day

This is what happens when one person owns a social network🤦‍♂️

According to Twitter's own data, tweaks to the algorithm have improved the visibility of Elon Musk's tweets by 737%.

Social news

Twitter removed 2 factor authentication by SMS unless you pay for it 🤦‍♂️

Twitter is removing 2 factor authentication by text unless you subscribe to Twitter Blue.

You can still use Authenticator apps, but I've found them to be unreliable, time consuming and a nightmare when you change phones.

Comment: Another terrible decision from Elon Musk. The first social network in history to promote account hacking 🤦‍♂️ Hopefully, there'll be a U-turn on this one.

New features

Schedule Articles on LinkedIn ✍️

LinkedIn are rolling out (slowly) as usual, the ability to schedule Articles.

Comment: Very handy.

Thanks to Mark Williams aka Mr LinkedIn, for this one.

Favourite messages in your LinkedIn Inbox ⭐

During some LinkedIn training I spotted that you can now favourite or star messages in your LinkedIn Inbox.

On desktop, look for the star icon to the right of the video conference/camera icon on the top right of a message.

On mobile, swipe left, select More and then star.

Comment: Really useful and helps you keep track of those important messages. The implementation on mobile is poor though.

New Instagram Commenting feature 💬

Meta is set to introduce a new 'add Comment using a GIF' feature - users could now be able to comment using animated images.

The feature is currently being tested and could be launched in due course.

Instagram To Introduce ‘Channels’ Broadcast: A New Chat Feature 🗣️

As highlighted here previously Meta has been working on Instagram Channels which are now set to launch.

The new feature is essentially a group messaging function within the social app wherein the users will stay updated on specific topics, brands, people, etc.

It is a ‘broadcast chat’ to support text, images and polls, all within IG direct messaging.

Full official announcement plus you can request early access via a mobile device.

Comment: There's a trend towards this type of niche communication so this should be really useful. I'm looking forward to trying it for Pollinger Social Club.

Shopping to become easier on TikTok? 🛍️

TikTok is testing in-app shopping which allow buyers to use their payment card and make purchases without leaving the app.

Thanks to Matt Navarra, @mattnavarra on Twitter, for this one.
