TikTok is testing an in-app AI chatbot called ‘Tako’ 🗨️
TikTok is testing an AI chatbot named "Tako" within its app. The bot appears on the right-hand side of the TikTok interface and can be used to ask questions about videos or discover new content. For example, users can ask Tako about the significance of events in a video or request recommendations for videos on a particular topic. The bot responds with a list of results that include the video's name, author, and subject, as well as links to suggested videos.
The bot was discovered being publicly tested by app intelligence firm Watchful.ai, and TikTok confirmed the tests are now live. However, the AI chatbot is currently not public in the U.S., but it is being tested in other global markets, including an early limited test in the Philippines. The bot will not appear on minors’ accounts.
TikTok is leveraging an unknown third-party AI provider that TikTok has customized for its needs. The bot is still considered "experimental" and its feedback "may not be true or accurate". TikTok also stresses that the chatbot should not be relied on for medical, legal, or financial advice. All Tako conversations will be reviewed for safety purposes and to enhance user experience. TikTok allows users to delete their chats with Tako.
TikTok believes the chatbot could do more than just answer questions about a video — it could also become a different way for users to surface content in the app, beyond typing into a search box. This could potentially pose a threat to Google if TikTok’s tests were successful and the chatbot publicly rolled out, as younger users might bypass Google altogether.

How luxury brands can drive results for paid ads on LinkedIn 🎯
The article from Social Media Today discusses new research from VidMob on the effectiveness of paid ads on LinkedIn for luxury brands. Key findings from the "Luxury Creative Video Insights" report include:
Ads that strategically used storytelling, music, and pacing drove higher results. Ads where talent appeared after the first three seconds saw a 460% lift above the average compared to those where talent appeared in the first three seconds. Videos that did not include spoken dialogue outperformed those with subtitles. The research was based on a review of 2,300 ads and over 120 million impressions on LinkedIn over the course of a year.
The article also notes that LinkedIn's ad revenue continues to grow, albeit at a slower rate. The platform is highlighting how its user base of business professionals, who earn more on average than users of other social media platforms, are also consumers and are more likely to click on relevant ads.
The luxury market is expected to grow to $369.8 billion by 2030. The research suggests that luxury brands on LinkedIn should focus on visual storytelling and music in their creative content. Showing an artisan at work led to a 3.2% lift in consideration for videos with a 100% view through rate (VTR) and a 9% lift in awareness. Highlighting the hero product before giving a full-view shot also resonated with consumers, resulting in a 242% lift in performance for ads with a 25% VTR and a 5.5% click-through rate.
