Create a song with music just by humming - TikTok-owner ByteDance debuts Ripple music creation app πΆ
ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok, has launched a new music creation app called Ripple. Currently in closed beta testing and only available in the US, Ripple is designed to assist creators in composing and editing music for their content. The app functions similarly to portable smart digital audio workstations (DAWs) and is particularly useful for beginners or those who prefer not to deal with more complex systems.
Ripple allows users to hum a melody into their phone, which the app then uses to generate instrumentals in various genres, such as drums, bass, and piano. The length of the generated song matches the length of the input melody. However, Ripple can only generate instrumental music, leaving the vocal work to the creators.
The AI model used by Ripple was trained on music owned by ByteDance and music licensed to the company. The company has stated its commitment to respecting the rights of its artists and rightsholder partners. Currently, Ripple is invite-only, with no further rollout plans announced yet.
Those interested can visit Ripple.club to find a download link for the iOS app and request an invite.
