ChatGPT comes to Android next week, but you can sign up today π§
The article from TechCrunch announces that ChatGPT, two months after its launch for iOS, is now available for pre-order for Android users. The ChatGPT app on Android is expected to have similar functionality to the iOS version, including most of the web-based version's features, and the ability to sync conversations and preferences across devices.
However, due to differences between the two mobile operating systems, some features, such as the June additions of Siri and Shortcuts to the iOS app, may not be available on Android, although similar features may be introduced. OpenAI has announced on Twitter that the Android app will be rolling out to users the following week, presumably in the U.S. first.
No plans were mentioned for other countries, but it's likely they'll follow after a few weeks or months. Android users can sign up to be notified when the app goes live by pre-registering on the Play Store.

LinkedIn Rolls Out Generative AI Tools to Write Posts π€
LinkedIn has started testing a suite of generative AI features to assist users in writing posts and updates on the platform. The new tools expand on the existing technology used for composing profiles, job descriptions, and advertisements. The AI writing assistant is designed around the standard types of LinkedIn posts, such as professional news and industry comments.
Users provide an explanation of what they want to post, along with any relevant details (a minimum of 30 words is recommended), and the AI generates a draft for the user to review, edit, and publish. The AI operates directly within the composition box for LinkedIn posts.
The feature is not widely available yet, but it is expected to streamline the posting process, making it less time-consuming for users. The main advantage of this feature is the convenience of having the option built into LinkedIn, eliminating the need for users to draft the post on another service like ChatGPT.
However, there is ongoing debate about whether this use of generative AI removes individuality and creativity from the posts or if it helps overcome barriers that prevent people from posting, thereby encouraging more people to share on LinkedIn.
The same discussion arose when LinkedIn released the AI job description and profile writing tools. LinkedIn's stance is that the benefits of these tools, such as saving users time and energy while maintaining their unique voice and style, outweigh the potential drawbacks.
