TikTok and Billboard Introduce the TikTok Billboard Top 50 Chart 🎶
In a groundbreaking partnership, TikTok and Billboard have unveiled the TikTok Billboard Top 50 Chart. This weekly chart, the first of its kind in the U.S., will showcase the most popular songs on TikTok, providing an accurate reflection of current music trends in the U.S. market.
Key Highlights:
The chart is based on a mix of creations, video views, and user engagement from the U.S. TikTok community. Sexyy Red has clinched the inaugural no. 1 spot with the song "SkeeYee". Notably, Sexyy Red's tracks appear three more times on the debut chart. Following closely, Doja Cat's "Paint the Town Red" and Taylor Swift's "august" secure the no. 2 and no. 3 positions respectively. Ole Obermann, Global Head of Music Business Development at TikTok, emphasized TikTok's influential role in music discovery and promotion. He expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration with Billboard, highlighting the chart's potential to capture the essence of music trends on TikTok.
Mike Van, President of Billboard, shared the sentiment, noting the evolution of Billboard charts to mirror how fans interact with music. He stated, "You’re not no. 1 until you’re no. 1 on Billboard."
Sexyy Red expressed gratitude to TikTok fans, saying, "I always knew I would be a #1 type of artist, so I want to thank all my fans on TikTok for running my music up!"
To access the TikTok Billboard Top 50 Chart, users can open the TikTok app and tap the 'Music Charts' button. The chart will also be updated every Thursday on billboard.com.
