New features

Broadcast messages on Insta?

Instagram is working on public broadcast chats, a one-to-many messaging feature.

It works similarly to Telegram and WhatsApp where admins can broadcast a message that others read and react to - but they can’t post messages of their own. So a like an email newsletter rather than a WhatsApp Group.

You can customise who can access the chat, including followers or subscribers only, or you can pin the chat to your profile for anyone to find and join.

Comment: Handy for businesses wanting to promote special offers, events etc

Hashtags coming to Communities?

Twitter are testing hashtags in Communities - a way to find the conversations you want to part of.

Hashtags used in a Community will populate at the top of the Communities page in order from most popular to least popular

Now on Android and web and coming soon to iOS.

Carousel posts are coming to LinkedIn

LinkedIn has announced that it’s currently testing native support for carousel posts.

Up until now, users had to upload premade multi-page documents in pdf in order to post carousels.

Now select users can create these from within LinkedIn’s post editor by selecting their chosen images or videos. You can customise their order and add alt text if you like.

Comment: Great news! Stats show that Carousel posts receive tons of engagement.
