New features

Twitter is planning to start charging $20 per month for verification

Now that he owns Twitter, Elon Musk has given employees their first ultimatum: Meet his deadline to introduce paid verification on Twitter or pack up and leave.

The directive is to change Twitter Blue, the company’s optional, $4.99 a month subscription that unlocks additional features, into a more expensive subscription that also verifies users, according to people familiar with the matter and internal correspondence seen by The Verge. Twitter is currently planning to charge $19.99 for the new Twitter Blue subscription.

Comment: I like the idea overall but it does have issues. It's a bit cheeky to effectively force existing verified users to pay for something they already have and it creates a 'them and us' polarisation. I've been long term believer of verification for all (anonymity can be preserved with platform only verification) and this goes some way to achieving that.

More new Twitter features

Elon Musk has made 2 changes to Twitter already:

1) Twitter Super Follows, the subscription plan for Creators, is now called Subscriptions.

2) When logged out users visit twitter.com, the Explore page as well as options to Sign up are available on the right hand side. Previously, users were only presented with a Sign up form.

Comment: Both of these changes, particularly the second are smart.

Image carousels coming to LinkedIn

LinkedIn is working on converting multiple photo uploads into carousels.

Comment: For now though, converting to pdf is the best option, and might still be from an algorithmic standpoint, even if this feature is launched. More convenient though for sure.
