Creating a Custom Audience for Meta Ads 🎯

Creating Custom Audiences with the Meta Pixel is an effective way to target specific groups of people who have visited your website, followed you on Facebook or Instagram, signed up to your newsletter and more. Here are some tips to help you create Custom Audiences:

Install the Meta Pixel (see yesterday's The Social Daily) if you want to target ads to your website visitors.

Decide on your audience: You need to clearly define the target audience based on their behavior on your website eg visitors who viewed a specific product or completed a purchase or have followed you on Facebook etc. See Custom Audiences in Ad Manager for full list,

Create your Custom Audience in Meta Ads Manager: Go to the Audiences section in Meta Ads Manager. Click on the "Create Audience" button and select "Custom Audience" from the dropdown. Or create your audience when setting up your Ad.

Choose a source for your custom audience: Select the source of your custom audience eg Website This means the audience will be based on data collected by the Meta Pixel on your website.

If choosing website, set up rules for your Custom Audience: Define the rules for your Custom Audience based on the specific actions or behavior you want to target. You can create multiple rules and combine them with "AND" or "OR" operators. For example, you can target users who visited a specific page.

Refine your website audience with parameters: You can further refine your custom audience by adding parameters like the number of days since the user last visited your website, device type, or frequency of visits. This helps you create highly targeted audiences for your campaigns.

Save your custom audience: Once you've defined your rules and parameters, click "Create Audience" to save your custom audience. It may take up to 30 minutes for Meta to populate the audience with users who meet your criteria.

Test and optimize: Continuously monitor the performance of your retargeting campaigns and optimize them by adjusting ad creative, audience targeting, and other parameters. Test different variations of your custom audiences to see which ones perform best.
