Tech giant Meta, formerly Facebook, is testing a new live-streaming platform for influencers called "Super", media reports say.
The new platform allows influencers to host live streams, earn revenue and engage with viewers. It has reportedly paid influencers between $200 and $3,000 to use the platform for 30 minutes, TechCrunch reported citing Business Insider.
Super entered development in late 2020 and is currently being built by Meta's New Product Experimentation team.
RELEASING A NEW artificial intelligence system that learns from people on the internet can be a risky proposition. Just ask Microsoft’s “teen” chatbot Tay—except you can’t, because Tay was taken down when it started reproducing sexist and racist remarks shortly after it launched in 2016.
Meta apparently believes that AI can learn to do better. The company just announced BlenderBot 3, a much more advanced chatbot designed to learn through conversation without getting into the kind of trouble that derailed Tay. And the company has made it available for anyone to try out.
In a move that likely reflects a bigger concern for TikTok than it does for Meta, and its overall growth plans, Facebook has announced that it’s shutting down its experiments with live shopping in the app, as of October 1st this year.
As reported by Business Insider, Facebook’s shuttering its native live stream shopping program, along with the ability to create product playlists, or tag products on Facebook, as it continues to refine its focus, and rationalize its development spend.
