New features
Instagram Reels now on Facebook plus several new features 📺
Instagram is introducing new features to its Reels platform to simplify content creation and increase reach for brands. Key updates include:
Template Browser Revamp: Users can now search the Template Browser by category, making it easier to navigate. The categories are organized into Recommended and Trending, as well as any templates or audio saved to your account.
Enhanced Editing Capabilities: The platform now offers more editing capabilities, making it less time-consuming to customize templates. When creating templates, the audio, number of clips, duration of the clips, and AR effects will automatically be added to your reel, saving time. Instagram will also start adding text and transitions used in the original reel to templates, though these will still be fully customizable.
Inspiration from Others: If users need inspiration, they can explore how other people have recreated templates. By tapping on the "Template by" icon in their chosen reel, brands can see examples of how others have used the template creatively.
Integration with Facebook: Instagram's parent company, Meta, confirmed that Instagram Reels will now also be served on Facebook, allowing people to comment on these clips without switching between apps. This expands the potential reach for brands across the Meta network.
These updates aim to make it easier for brands to identify trending videos, join the conversation, and create content more efficiently.

Nick Clegg: AI language systems are 'quite stupid' 🤖
Sir Nick Clegg, Meta's president of global affairs, has described current Artificial Intelligence (AI) models as "quite stupid," downplaying the risks associated with the technology. He stated that the hype around AI has outpaced the actual capabilities of the technology, which are far from developing autonomy or independent thought. Clegg's comments came as Meta announced that its large language model, Llama 2, would be open-source and free for everyone to use.
However, this decision has sparked debate within the tech community, with concerns about potential misuse of the powerful tool and the need for robust regulation. Meta has also partnered with Microsoft, making Llama 2 available via Microsoft platforms such as Azure.
