BeReal gets 'friends of friends' and other new features 🆕
The photo-sharing app, BeReal, is known for its unique approach to social media, emphasizing connections with friends rather than a broader audience.
Unlike other platforms, BeReal doesn't have influencers or celebrities, and users can't see the number of friends someone else has. Historically, the app had a Discovery feed, showcasing random public posts from users one isn't friends with.
However, BeReal is now introducing a "Friends of Friends" feed, allowing users to view posts from their friends' connections, provided they opt-in. This new feature aims to make the content more relevant and engaging.
Additionally, users can now customize their profiles by pinning up to three past posts. The app has also incorporated a mentions feature, enabling users to tag friends in their posts using the "@" sign.
Despite its initial viral success, BeReal's daily active users have stabilized at around 20 million. The France-based team behind BeReal has been proactive in introducing new features, including Bonus BeReal, RealChat, and a Spotify integration.

WhatsApp is widely rolling out the video message feature mentioned here previously.
Tap the microphone icon in a chat to use or tap and hold for an audio message.
Video messaging also includes with a screen-sharing option.
